I think the difficulty with flash is going to be powered-off shelf life rather than terabytes written reliability when in use. As an example, consider the recently announced 61TB NVMe drive by Solidigm with a power-off data retention of 90 days at 40C.Tried my USB3/SATA/SSDLooks like NMVe is more than twice as fast.Code:
hdparm -t /dev/sda/dev/sda: Timing buffered disk reads: 574 MB in 3.14 seconds = 183.08 MB/sec
I guess I know what my next upgrade is going to be.![]()
So which type of NMVe flash is going to last longer, 3D, TLC?????

In the future will it be possible to store a computer in the closet for a year and expect it to boot without reformatting the SSD after that?
