I thought that no longer works on a Pi 5? It relied on firmware support which isn't present on Pi 5. There is a replacement but its not ready yet AFAIK.
I thought I had made the same point when that 'redirection' was suggested - But I guess it was in a different thread.

Update : Very weird. It looks like this thread got split or perhaps only partially moved - viewtopic.php?t=359645
you can use the trick explained by lady ada, on how to redirect the analog audio PWM signals to two GPIO pins, and add your own audio filter. Handy if you want to use the PI5 in a small handheld gaming device.
Does the remapping audio to GPIO trick still work with the Pi 5 with stuff being moved under RP1 control ?
the VPU code to support that is missing

but the RP1 now has dedicated silicon to do the same job
its just waiting on a driver to be written in linux
