No HW encoders on the Pi5, not sure if the SW encoders can output motion vectors.Been using MotionPi OS and Pikrellcam in various versions since 2014, starting with the original Pi 1B's.A CMR HDD is still the best option for high write usage.
The original SD cards were cheap ones that needed replacing and the power supply on the Pi 1B was not the best.
Pi 1B+ with uSD were better.
They have been using Western Digital Purples 2TB+ for years.
Most still using Pi 1B+, the OS runs on the uSD, still and vids saved to the HDD, on a 3TB drive I can save a few years.
AI sure would be handy so I don't save image/vids of cars just driving past.
The way Motion OS and Pikrellcam worked was detecting the motion vectors from the h.264 compression firmware.
This was done in hardware so not much CPU was needed, only works on old VideoCore 4 hardware?
The new cameras like global shutter would stop blur.
There are some Sony Starvis ones better for night time.
But these require Bookworm and libcamera, not sure if there is a simple CV/AI app yet.
Does h.265 produce motion vectors on Pi5?
