In section "Unit sales of Single Board Computers (SBCs) and compute modules and microcontrollers", is it correct to summarize this as:
In H1 2024 3,660,000 RPi SBC (including compute modules) were sold.
In H1 2024 2,153,000 MCUs (individual and on Pico boards) were sold.
SBC (including compute modules) account for ~90% of gross profit.
Is there any way to know if MCU business is profitable? I couldn't infer anything from the numbers.
From the peanut gallery where I sit it seems like the expertise needed to make the RP1 for the Pi 5 simply went ahead and made an MCU along the way. Of course it takes more planning than that, but given the usefulness of the RP2xxx devices I'm glad the financial types were brave enough to let the engineers innovate.
