Raspberry Pi OS • Re: Possible to "upgrade" glibc without installing a whole new OS?

Consider libc and a kernel to be tightly coupled. You're best off downgrading the program to its previous version then twiddle the correct knobs to prevent it updating again.
Not upgrading the program is certainly an option. Not optimal, of course, but an option.

But it would better (obviously) if it were possible to upgrade the libc w/o having to upgrade everything else. Hence this thread. It may not be a recommended path of action, but I am sure someone knows how to do it (and has done it).

This thread underlies one of the ongoing (and well documented/publicized) problems with Linux.

Although recent versions of Windows (starting with Win 10) seem to be heading down the same path.
You don't seem inclined to post any detail so there's not much more to be said. Play with LD_LIBRARY_PATH if you want but first look up the programming definition of "undefined behaviour".

Fwiw, the obvious solution is to compile the source code.
