Yes, of course! I thought that's pretty much what I said. Maybe I wasn't clear enough.The printer in question is a Colour Laser printer. I'd expect one of those to be powered from mains as they take much more power than can be provided by USB.I suspect that to get something that draws as much power as a printer to work of a Pi zero, it will need an external power source both for the printer itself and the USB.

The OP seemed to be suggesting that he was trying to power the printer from the USB hat on the zero...which I was attempting to clarify; is a non starter.
