Troubleshooting • Re: PI 5 HDMI Output Troubleshooting

Below assumes PI5, Bookworm version of PI-OS

- try again at powering up without a card inserted. you should get the diagnostic display. See if the Display line shows "EDID-OK". while an 8' cable should not be a problem (i think HDMI can be up to 15') until you get the diagnostic display, i'd suspect cabling issues. (are you plugged in to the right HMDI port?)
- Config.txt is ignored by the latest KMS driver (Bullseye and Bookworm). changes made will be ignored.
- as for cmdline.txt, are you editing the correct file? it is now under the "firmware" folder, not under the root.
