I prefer not to add sid to my sources.lists, but manually pull the required debs from whichever repository when needed. I wasn't aware that kicad 7.1.10 was ready, so I just downloaded the deb files for my x86 laptop and installed them manually with dpkg.
Perfectly sensible. I just prefer to let it deal with the dependencies, which can get tedious otherwise.
That's why some time ago I hacked together something that tried to check the dependencies all the .deb files in the current directory and report on any missing ones.
