General discussion • Re: All My Raspberry Pi's shutting down at the same time...

To set the stage here, I have the following:

Pi 3B+ 32 Bit OS
Pi 3B+ 64 Bit OS
Pi 4 64 Bit OS
Pi 5 64 Bit OS

All running the standard Raspian for each board version.

These aren't doing any heavy lifting or much of anything unless I log into test something. My question is, why would all these devices suddenly shutdown or go off-line while just sitting idle. I've had this happen a number of time when I try to VNC to one and I find that it's not responding. I unplug and then plug back in to reboot and all is good. I check the other 3 and the same thing. The concern here is that if I did task one or all of them to do something that they would just shutdown making them unreliable for whatever I want them to be doing.

Any ideas?
I would suspect a power glitch. Even a momentary drop will shut down a Pi. Are any of your Pis protected by a UPS on even an actual surge suppressor? If you are around them, have you noticed anything like the room lighting flickering? Is there any heavy equipment near by that may be fed by a common power line and causing a momentary drop when it kicks in? (Actually saw a problem like that years ago with modems in a building near a heavy industry area. At the time--due to cost--the solution was line conditioners. My boss was impressed when that worked after I suggested it.)
