Not using an ipad, and it isn't an issue of remembering the password. Please read my post again. There is never a need to enter the username, as though a username is not required. Of the 20+ times I've set one of these up and accessed the pi using RealVNC, I have ALWAYS needed to provide a user name in addition to the password. But not on this one...
Edit: Adding that using several devices to log into the device, I am never required to enter a username. Only being asked for a password...
