I used Pi400 as a retro gaming platform for Batocera. My kids love to play my old Nintendo games as well as old arcades. Today I purchased Pi500 as a replacement for Pi400 with hopes it will be better for extremely slow Playstation emulation.
Upon pairing my 8bitdo 2 Pro controller I noticed the buttons response was very choppy compared to the old Pi400. After a few reconnections and new pairing attempts I noticed that there was no lag at all when controller was within 3 feet from the unit and stopped responding completely when it was more than 4 feet away. This was not a case with Pi400, when I was able to use the controller more than 20 feet away from the Raspberry keyboard with no problems whatsoever.
Did I purchase a lemon? Is it a common problem with Pi500? Can it be addressed with firmware update? Should I return it or replace it? Should I stick to the old reliable 400?
