I used 6" USB-C cables with right angle plugs to deliver the power. In the end I had under-voltage warnings--I think because the 5V rail in the ATX supply was right at 5V and not the usual 5.1V. I suppressed the under-voltage throttling with a boot flag and the pies are fast and stable.
Even so, I expect the voltage drop across those right-angle adapters you found will be less.
