You can use a camera for multiple purposes. Please see GS link in my signature, it is the only Raspberry camera allowing for >300fps video capturing. If you cannot find a killer argument for HQ camera I would go with GS (I have two of them).

I guess I'm not really sure if there's a better/best reason for GS/HQ. The only "argument" I can think of is that HQ will theoretically give me more detail.

I'm only planning to use this as a dedicated microscope specifically for doing small electronics work. I'm currently using a 1200x1600 microscope and the resolution is good, but it's got a really mediocre lens assembly and the zoom has a boatload of play in it that creates a horrible experience

I am definitely intrigued by the GS camera as that will make the viewing experience better, but I can't figure out if I would miss the extra resolution
