Raspberry Pi 400 and 500 • Will a Bookworm OS made on a 500 work on a 400?

I have a Pi 400 and want to order a 500. I want to be able to keep using the 400 while also setting up a new memory card with Bookworm. Can I do it on the 500 and then just move the card to the 400?
