I am using openmediavault.When you do finally find the drive, how are you going to share it ?
If by Samba and the drive is always going to be lugged into the rpi, then I suggest you format it again, but this time with a Linux filesystem, such as ext4. You might wonder why, it is because: A) your windows machines will only see the data stream and not the drive. B) There are no tools to set owner & group permissions on an NTFS drive connected to a Linux computer, or to put it another way, chown & chmod will not work.
I did format again using exFAT but I did not get any other results
