Agree. That's a good strategy to keep the DB on a separate non local partition.
But keep in mind I had to upgrade my influxdb from v1 to v2 which requires a non trivial DB migration. Given the DB was located on the root partition the DB data was saved in every backup and I was able to revert multiple times to the previous DB state when I had DB migration issues and was able to try again a DB migration..
